To get a California driver's license, there are some things you should be prepared for. If you are 17 1/2 years or older, there are no restrictions or requirements, you can make an appointment or walk in the DMV to apply, take a written test to get your Professional Learner's Permit. To go to the DMV website just click on www.dmv.ca.gov.

The DMV will ask for the following items:

The application DL44 must be completed with the applicant information. Your right hand thump print and picture will be taken at that time. You must take and pass the written test. This test contains questions from the California Hand Book. For your convenience the California Driver's Handbook is available at the DMV or at our office, FREE of charge.

The adult permit test: is a 36 multiple-choice questions, to pass, you can must miss less than 6 questions. They can take this test 3 times. Once you pass the permit test, DMV will issue you a Driver's Learners Permit. This document is valid for 1 year from the date of application. Adults can retake the test anytime; Feel free to practice the sample test just click on the links www.dmv.ca.gov or www.sr22.net.

** If you are between the ages of 15½ thru 17½, you may get a permit, but first you must complete a driver's education course (online or classroom) and receive the DE Certificate of Completion OL237 (Blue), be enrolled in a driver's training course, have a Enrollment Certificate OL392 (White). You need the two certificates to be in compliance with DMV requirements. Both of these requirements are met by enrolling through our driving school. The permit test is 46 multiple choice questions must miss less then 8. They MUST hold the permit for 6 months and reach the age of 16, and then they can go to the DMV and take the drive test. At that time, they will need the behind the wheel certificate completion OL238 (Orange), this will be issued to them the last day of their drivers training lesson. The permit is NOT VALID until they take the 1st driving lesson, and the instructor will sign the permit. Whoever is the person that practices driving with them the most that is the person who must sign the permit, vouching that they have meet the 50 hr (40 hr day time and 10 hr night time) driving training requirement.

The learners permit allows you to practice driving. You must be prepared for the drive test (road test) to receive your Drivers License. While practicing driving, you must be accompanied by a licensed driver who is 18 years (25 years old for a teenager) or older or a driving instructor. Please read the 2-3 pages of your learners permit to know of any restrictions that may be listed on it.

When ready to take your drive test, call 1-800-777-0133 or go on line www.dmv.ca.gov. make a drive test appointment, at one of the DMV field offices. On your drive test you must provide proof of insurance, registration for the car you will use, or just call us we will provide everything you need for that day.
